DEVELOPING MISSIONARIES

DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCT

This page will count with 5 subsections, which are the services I thought about offering so far. They will revolve around the goal of fostering ICC (Intercultural Communication Competences) and providing information on which volunteers can drawn upon prior to joining a project. As the menu suggests on it's own, here the user can find the following subsections:

- VIDEOS: they can choose between mini documentaries that function as an account of the daily life of a team allocated in a project in a community abroad or "talks" that are videos in the shape of ted talks that offer a presentation of the experience on mission.  The videos can be produced either by interns, or other volunteers that are assigned the especific position of producing this type of content.

- BLOGS:  e.g. "Life and Mission in Guatemala" again talking about the experiences in mission. Again, the blogs can be updated by interns or volunteers allocated in the project.

- COURSES: the courses are not supposed to be too extensive, and they will also not focus on direct instructions on how to deal with "this" or "that" culture. Instead, they are supposed to educate the unexperienced users in notions of intercultural competences and how to approach intercultural encounters with an open mind. This way it doesn't really matter "where" they are going, but how prepared they are to face differences and reality shocks. Examples of contents may be as follows: . "How to foster comprehension", "what are cultural barriers", "the cultural norms of etiquette", "basic notions of (xxxx) languages", "the dangers of stereotypes and how to avoid them",  "focusing on similarities instead of differences"

- APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS: designed to make sure that project organizations don't have to expend too many a posteriori resources dealing with "collateral damage" cause by bad experiences with unprepared volunteers. If a priori to joining a longer term position they are assigned a training period under supervision of someone who is already allocated in the project for longer time, they get to learn from their supervisors, while also having more time to think if they want to commit to a longer service.

- FORUM: basic forum where users can post questions and wait for answers -> these could come from other users but also from a team of interns hired by the organization to follow and update the media content.
